Following the fine tradition of plein air painting to enchance landscape skills, this class will challenge the painter to see differently.   Focus on choosing subject matter, simplifying the complex elements found in the landscape and water.  Attention to strong composition for more success, value, light patterns, design, color, paint application and atmospheric perspective will be included

We will paint outside, but inside in the art center if the weather is bad and will use  photos.

Demonstrations, group critiques, and lots of personal attention are included.  This workshop will be held outdoors, depending on weather, or  indoors  if necessary.

Students may be beginner to advanced in plein air painting, but participants should have a solid knowledge of the medium they will use.  Oil or water based oils are recommended, and pastels are welcome.  Acrylics should be used only if the student knows well how to deal with the rapid drying process of this medium and have experience with it.
